Situated in the eastern part of Missouri, St. Louis County is a county with an estimated population of more than 1,003,500 residents. It’s the most populous county in the state of Missouri whose county seat is Clayton. Surrounded by the Meramec River, the Missouri River, the Mississippi River, and the state of Illinois, it’s included in the Greater St. Louis Metropolitan area and borders but does not include the city of St. Louis.

With nearly one-fourth of Missouri’s workforce employed in St. Louis County, its largest employment sectors include health and education, transportation and trade, and professional business services. The county houses the largest concentration of plant science Ph.D.’s in the world and the eighth strongest market for technology hiring.
